MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Men's and Women's Cross Country as well as the Volleyball team will be in action on Friday, September 8.
The Volleyball team was scheduled to play on Friday and Saturday, but Hurricane Irma has cancelled play on Saturday.

HAWKS PROFILE
The Chowan Cross Country programs compete in their second race of the season. The Hawks will get their first real look at CIAA opponents as Chowan ran against a few at the Catawba Invitational last week.
The Hawks' women were led by freshmen Lela Knight and Elizabeth Stokes. Newcomer Raven Finley-Flowers finished third for Chowan.
Jyrec McCray will look to continue his success off the first race, where he led the Hawks with a 35th place finish. Kevin Taylor and Jalen Thomas produced strong performances with Ghassan Alansi not far behind.

HAWKS PROFILE
The Hawks are off to a slow start with a 0-4 overall record. Chowan will travel to Florence, S.C. to compete in the Francis Marion Invitational. The Hawks will face UNC Pembroke and host Francis Marion on Friday, with play on Saturday cancelled due to Hurricane Irma.
Chowan have posted a balanced attack offensively with four players with 20+ kills. Milica Vejnovic leads the squad with 26 kills, with Brittany Tschida (21), Sydney Bell (20), and Courtney O'Keefe (20) meet the mark. Tschida leads the team with 11.0 blocks.
ABOUT THE BRAVES
UNC Pembroke comes into the contest with a 1-5 overall record. The Braves went 0-4 during the Newberry Invitational last weekend and picked up their first win of the season against Converse in a tri-match on Tuesday.
The Braves feature three players with 40+ kills led by Amber Tyndall with 47 kills.
ABOUT THE PATRIOTS
Francis Marion, host school, are in search of their first win of the young season coming into the contest with a 0-4 record. The Patriots fell in their opening tournament of the season at the Queens (N.C.) Invitational.
Georgia Garrison leads FMU with 48 kills.
