GAME NOTES
ROAD HAS NOT BEEN KIND
Chowan enters the contest winless on the season with a 0-3 record after falling to West Florida, 51-23, last weekend on the road. The Hawks have traveled over 3500 miles in the past two weeks having traveled to Cleveland, Miss. and Pensacola, Fla. for back-to-back road games.
HOME SWEET HOME
Chowan returns home for the second home game of the season as the Hawks hosted Fayetteville State to open the season on September 2. The Hawks finished the 2016 season 4-2 in the confines of Garrison Stadium. Chowan is looking to pick up their first win of the season in front of the home fans against an opponent the Hawks have had success against every time.
HAWKS HAPPENINGS
Bryce Witt continues to shine as the Hawks' starting quarterback averaging 272.5 yards per game through the air and just under three passing touchdowns per contest. Torry Baker and Herman Dupas Jr. have been Witt's favorite targets with both receivers over 200 yards. Baker has hauled in four touchdown passes.
Seniors Nate Wyche and Randy Allen Jr. lead the Hawks on the defensive side of the ball with 21 and 18 tackles respectively. Wyche has recorded 5.0 TFL and 4.5 sacks on the season.
BLUE BEAR BIO
Livingstone is coming off a 59-0 loss to Division I Hampton last weekend on the road. The Blue Bears are averaging 9.3 points per game so far this season and searching for their first win since October 15, 2016.
Xavier Longerbeam will get the nod at starting quarterback after an injury in the Blue Bears' second game. So far this season, Longerbeam is 10-21 for 67 yards. Jarius Richardson has 95 yards rushing on the season, but Art'Kevious Nelson has both rushing touchdowns on 21 carries and 29 total yards.
LAST MEETING/SERIES HISTORY
Chowan holds a perfect 5-0 record against Livingstone in the series and 2-0 at Garrison Stadium. The Hawks have defeated the Blue Bears by an average of 25.8 points. The Blue and White picked up the win against Livingstone on the road, 41-13, on September 24.
Former signal caller, Randall Dixon, threw for 372 yards and a program record five touchdowns. The Hawks defense got to Xavier Longerbeam seven times. Jarius Richardson was a bright spot for the Blue Bears rushing for 129 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.
