HILTON HEAD, SC-The Chowan University women's tennis team dropped 6-3 to Michigan Technological University on Tuesday afternoon.

The Huskies swept all three doubles play leading the Hawks 3-0 into singles matches.

In singles play, Kwang Suthijindawong picked up the number one singles match over Polina Novachuk 7-5, 6-4. Chowan regrouped in the number two position, Victoria Smolchenkova over Paola Quintana 6-4, 6-3, while Cynthia Carrier won the number three singles 6-1, 6-1 over Sandra Cvetanovic for the Hawks. Angelique Gouin fell to Vicky Quinde 6-1, 6-2 in the number four position, while Anna Makhneva beat Natalia Parra in the number five singles 1-6, 6-4, 11-9. Michigan Tech secured the win with the number six singles match, Anabella Neri over Roxana Daneshjoo 6-3, 6-0.

The Hawks slipped to 3-5 with the setback overall, while the Huskies improve to 10-8 on the season. 

Chowan will continue play at the Spring Tennisfest as they match up against Northwood University on Wednesday March 8^th.
