HILTON HEAD, SC- The Chowan University women's tennis team fell to Palm Beach Atlantic University 5-2 in a rain-shortened match on Monday afternoon. The Hawks slipped to 3-4 on the season, while the Sailfish improved to 3-4 overall.

With anticipated rain, the teams started singles play. Michaela Mignemi took the number six singles position over Roxana Daneshjoo 6-1, 6-2, while CU's Victoria Smolchenkova picked up the number two singles match over Leoni Polzin 6-3, 0-6, 10-5. Palm Beach answered back with the number five and four singles; Maja Jovic beat Anna Makhneva 6-4, 4-6, 10-1 while Romina Bolagay defeated Angelique Gouin 6-1, 6-4. The Hawks grabbed the number one singles match when Valerie Nagovitcina dropped to Polina Novachuk in a tie breaker 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 10-4, before they slipped 7-5, 7-5 Taylor Conti over Cynthia Carrier in the number three singles position.

The Sailfish picked up the lone doubles play 8-1 over Makhneva and Daneshjoo for the day, teams were unable to finish doubles play due to weather.
