Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC - The Chowan University men's lacrosse team suffered a 19-7 loss to Catawba College on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks moved to 0-3 after the loss while Catawba moved to 3-2 on the year.
The Hawks were outshot 64 to 18 in the match. Goalkeeper Markis Harrison tallied 26 saves over sixty minutes of play.Â
Catawba got on the board first at the 14:05 mark of the first period on a score by Dalton Cook. CU's
Jacob Mitchell answered Cook's goal with an unassisted goal just under two minutes later. The Indians went on to score four more first period goals before
Noah Holloway got the Hawks on the board again at the first period horn. Catawba went on to outscore the Hawks 6-2 in the second period for an 11-4 halftime lead. The Indians put up eight goals to the Hawks three in the second half to take the eventual 19-7 win.Â
Holloway led the way for Chowan with four goals. Mitchell scored two goals and
Nick Lavoy added a score. For Catawba, Cole Fanzo and Cook had four goals each.Â
Chowan (0-3) will host Davis and Elkin on Saturday, March 4th in their next outing. Match time is set for 3:00pm in Murfreesboro.Â
