WILSON, N.C. - The Chowan University men's lacrosse team closed out the regular season on the road against Barton College on Friday evening. The Hawks responded to an early surge from the Bulldogs, matching them goal-for-goal to enter halftime tied at 7-7. Chowan added three more goals in the fourth quarter, but Barton pulled away late to secure a 19-10 victory.
Six different Hawks found the back of the net, with six players also recording assists for a combined 19 points on the evening.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Justin Hill opened the scoring for Chowan with two first-quarter goals, assisted by Thomas Rohal and Owen Williams. Reed Low added the third goal of the quarter off a pass from Scott Cathcart, finishing in front of the cage. Rohal later found the net with just over a minute remaining in the period, assisted by Treston Gatewood.
Williams opened the second quarter with a goal, this time assisted by Rohal. Low followed with back-to-back goals, with assists from Hill and Williams, helping the Hawks keep pace heading into halftime.
Chowan added three goals in the fourth quarter, with Low, Gatewood, and Todd Egan each scoring. Low's goal was assisted by Egan, Gatewood's was unassisted, and Egan closed out the scoring with a goal assisted by Gatewood.
Low led the Hawks with four goals, while Hill, Rohal, Gatewood, and Williams each totaled three points with one goal and two assists. Egan added two points, and Cathcart contributed one.
Rocco Smith played all 60 minutes in goal, recording a game-high 17 saves—surpassing the combined total of Barton's two goalkeepers who totaled 12.

The Hawks await final seeding for the Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Championship. The quarterfinals are set for April 21, with the semifinals and championship to follow on April 24 and 26.
