Box Score HARTSVILLE, SC- The Chowan University men's lacrosse team dropped their second match of the season to Coker College 16-7 on Saturday evening. The Hawks slide to a 0-2 on the season after the setback while the Cobras start their 2017 season 1-0 with the win.
Nick Lavoy led the offensive effort for the Hawks with three goals in the loss.
Manny Mastromanolis,
Noah Holloway, and Anthony Alfonso each scored a goal, while Holloway and Alfonso were each awarded with an assist in match.
Tim Wright, Denton Wilks, and Rylee Marsh each scored three goals in the contest. Marsh was credited with two assists in the victory. Austin Holgate and Shane McEnery chipped in two goals each for the Cobras.
McEnery put the Cobras on the board when he found the back of the net using an assist by Ryan Powell. Chowan recovered at the 3:57 minute mark when a faceoff was won by Alphonso, making the score 2-1 heading into the second quarter. Coker stretched the score with five goals to pull away 7-2 heading into halftime.
Coker and Chowan each exchanged goals down the final stretch of the third quarter. The Cobras kept the momentum throughout the fourth quarter before they secured the 16-7 win.
Austin Lee played 60 minutes in goal for the Hawks. He recorded nine saves in the contest and was credited with the loss for Chowan.
Anthony Mailk was awarded the win for the Cobras tallying seven saves in the contest.
The Hawks are back in action on February 25
th for their home debut as they host Catawba College. Game time slated for 3:00pm
