WILSON, NC-The Chowan University women's tennis team dropped their third match of the season on Tuesday afternoon to Barton College by a score of 7-2. The Hawks slipped to 1-2 on the season with the loss while the Bulldogs improved to 1-3.

In doubles play, Polina Novachuk and Victoria Smolchenkova dropped an 8-1 decision to Marissa Stevenson and Daria Avram in the number one seeded match. Cynthia Carrier and Angelique Gouin fell 8-6 to Elle Vietz and Vanessa Sanoja in number two doubles position. In the third seeded doubles play, Roxana Daneshjoo and Anna Makhneva lost 8-6 to Lorraine Chon-Qui and Dana Kelly.

In singles play, Novachuk dropped the number one singles to Avram 6-3, 7-5. In the number two singles, Smolchenkova fell to Stevenson 7-6(7), 6-4 while, Carrier fell to Sanoja 6-4, 4-6, 7-5 in the number three singles match. The Hawks recovered in the number four position 6-0, 6-0 when Gouin defeated Vietz, before Chon-Qui took the 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 win for the bulldogs over Makhneva in the number five singles match. Chowan's Daneshjoo picked up the number six seeded singles match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Kelly. 

The Hawks return to action on February 17^th to host University of Mount Olive. Match time is set for 2:00pm.
