MURFREESBORO, N.C. – The Chowan Volleyball team opens up the 2017 CIAA Volleyball Championships in their quest for the program's CIAA Championship after winning the Northern Division for the fourth straight season.
The Hawks face Johnson C. Smith in the opening round of the CIAA Championships.

Chowan enters the postseason with a 15-11 overall record and finished the season with a 13-3 CIAA record and a perfect 10-0 Northern Division record.
Brittany Tschida leads the squad with 185 kills. Courtney O'Keefe (153), Makayla Castro (152) and Kayla Gates (142) continues the balanced attack for the Hawks.
Bailey Zavala leads the CIAA with 444 digs. Karisa Patterson also leads the CIAA in assists with 734.
ABOUT THE GOLDEN BULLS
JCSU ended the regular season with a 15-7 overall record and the fourth seed in the Southern Division. Gorana Bogdanovic leads the team with 172 kills.
The Golden Bulls were swept by the Hawks on September 30 at the CIAA Round-Up 2, 3-0.
CIAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
Chowan is 21-6 in the CIAA Championships and 7-1 in CIAA opening round contests.
The Hawks and Golden Bulls will meet for the first time in postseason action.
