HOMECOMING WEEKEND
Since 2009, Chowan is 5-3 on homecoming weekend. The Hawks have lost three of the last four games during homecoming weekend with the lone win coming in 2015 against St. Augustine's (49-0). Chowan hosted Elizabeth City once on homecoming weekend in 2013 but fell short as the Vikings escaped with a 37-31 overtime win.
RETURNING HOME
Chowan will play only their third game at home this season as the Hawks have been on the road for the past three weeks. CU is 1-1 at home this season falling to Fayetteville State in the opener and picking up a CIAA win against Livingstone 25-12.
ONE-SIDED RIVALRY
Chowan and Elizabeth City State will meet for the 10th time in the series as the Vikings holds the series advantage 8-1. The Hawks and Vikings will meet for only the fourth time at Garrison Stadium where the Hawks are 1-2. CU picked up the lone victory in the series in the last meeting at Garrison Stadium, 24-20, on October 24, 2015.
WORK HORSES
Tyrell Freeman and Michael Offutt Jr. have posted four 100-yd rushing games this season with both notching two apiece. Freeman holds the slight advantage on the ground with 458 yards rushing with a 5.7 yards per carry clip. Offutt Jr. has rushed for 438 yards this season at 5.3 yards per carry.
Freeman averages 166 yards at home on the ground with a 7.9 yards per carry, while Offutt Jr. averages 93.5 yards per game at home with 7.5 yards per carry.
ELIZABETH CITY STATE FILE
Elizabeth City is 4-3 on the season and tied with the Hawks at 2-2 in CIAA play. The Vikings are coming off a 56-18 homecoming victory against Lincoln (Pa.) last weekend.
The Vikings are led by dual-threat quarterback Daquan Neal with 18 total touchdowns. Neal is their leading rusher and passer with 221 yards on the ground and 1648 yards through the air.
