INDIANA, PA- The Chowan University women's tennis team's season came to an end on Sunday afternoon. The Hawks fell to Indiana University of Pennsylvania 5-0 in the opening round of the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship.

Victoria Smolchenkova fell 8-1 in #1 doubles play to give the Crimson Hawks an early edge.

Roxana Daneshjoo suffered an 8-3 setback in #3 doubles before
Cynthia Carrier/
Angelique Gouin were outlasted 8-5 in #2 doubles play.
IUP held onto the advantage and quickly secured two singles wins to propel the Crimson Hawks to the 5-0 win.
Jessica De Backre fell to Claudia Menes 6-2, 6-1 in #5 singles play and Makhneva dropped a 6-3, 6-2 decision in #6 singles, handing IUP the 5-0 victory.
Chowan ends the season with a 25-6 overall record. This season, the Hawks claimed their third straight CIAA Northern Division title, captured their second CIAA Championship crown and made their second NCAA Atlantic Region appearance in program history. Chowan returns to action in the fall of 2016.
