BOWIE, MD- The Chowan University women's tennis team concluded CIAA play on Saturday with two wins over Bowie State University.  The Hawks topped the Lady Bulldogs 9-0, 9-0 over the course of two matches to earn the CIAA Northern Division title.  Chowan stands 21- 5 overall and 13-0 in CIAA play with the wins. 

In the first match of the day, Polina Novachuk/Victoria Smolchenkova defeated Amber Peters/Dainese Smothers 8-2 in number one doubles play.  Cynthia Carrier/Angelique Gouin picked up a win by forfeit in number two doubles while Roxana Daneshjoo/Anna Makhneva earned an 8-2 win in number three doubles. 

Holding a 3-0 lead heading into singles play, the Hawks continued to dominate as each player in the lineup picked up a victory.  Novachuk, Smolchenkova, Carrier, Gouin, Jessica De Backre, and Makhneva topped their opponents in singles play to contribute to the 9-0 win. 

In the second match of the afternoon, Carrier/Gouin topped Peters/Smothers 8-2 in number one play with Daneshjoo/Makhneva and De Backre/Andrade earned 8-1 wins in number two and three doubles play, respectively. 

In singles competition, the Hawks continued to build on the momentum and swept the Lady Bulldogs to easily secure the 9-0 win. 

Chowan returns to action on April 23^rd to take on West Liberty.  First serve is slated for 1pm in Winchester, Virginia.
