CHARLOTTE, NC-

th. The Sapphires, along with cheerleading squads from all twelve CIAA member institutions, showcased their skills in Time Warner Cable Arena in front of a packed arena.
Chowan University's
Gabrielle Grant and
Juanita Ward were selected to the All-CIAA Cheerleading Team. Members of the squad must have reached sophomore status, be in good academic standing, and serve as an example of sportsmanship, enthusiasm, and leadership. Grant is a native of Durham, North Carolina and is a junior member of this year's squad.
Ward, a senior and Virginia Beach, Virginia native, is a captain on this year's team. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Biology major.

Pamela Scott noted, "I'm so proud of the progress our team has made over the course of the season. It's exciting to see the young ladies get better and better with each performance and Saturday was a great opportunity for us to show what we are made of. "
CIAA McDonald's Super Saturday is an annual event featuring performances, giveaways, the crowning of Miss CIAA along with the cheerleading exhibition.
The Sapphires cheer at home football games, home men's and women's basketball games, along with select road contests.
