Box Score SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV- The Chowan University men's soccer team defeated the Shepherd University Rams 3-1 on Monday afternoon. The Hawks advance to 4-1-1 on the season while the Rams drop to 1-6 on the year.
Chowan tallied 21 shots over the course of the contest, nine of which were on goal.
Jason Bradbury and
Terell Williamson each tallied five shots, with two on goals while
Tre Bonaparte added three shots, two on goal. Bonaparte, Bradbury and Williamson each found the back of net for the Hawks in the win while Bonaparte,
Jamie McNicholas and
Swann Vincent were each credited with assists for Chowan.
Marco Lujan made one save in the contest and shutout the Rams for 71 minutes.
Carlos Ramirez entered the game for the last 19 minutes and made one save while allowing one goal.
Chowan held the Rams to seven total shots over the course of the game, with three on goal. George Novakowski scored the lone goal for Shepherd in the setback. Dmitre Snowdy made six saves in goal in the loss.
Bradbury used Bonaparte's feed in the 24
th minute of play to give the Hawks a quick 1-0 advantage in the game. Just three minutes later, Vincent found Williamson, who found the back of the net and pushed Chowan's lead to 2-0. The Hawks scored once more, just two minutes after the halftime break using Bonaparte's score to put the game away.
Novakowski ended the scoring drought for Shepherd when he used Justin Daniels' assist in the 88
th minute of play to put the Rams on the board.
The Hawks return to action on September 24
th when they travel to Francis Marion University. Game time is slated for 7:00pm.
