NORFOLK, VA- The Chowan University women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision against Norfolk State University on Monday evening in nonconference play. The Hawks move to 14-6 on the season with the setback while the Spartans improve to 8-11 on the year after the win.
In doubles play, Norfolk State picked up victories in two out of the three double positions to take a 1-0 lead using the NCAA Division I scoring system.

Jennifer Humphrey dropped 8-0 decisions in the number two and three doubles positions, respectively.
Norfolk State swept the Hawks in singles play. Kamenshchikova fell to Cvjetkovic 6-2, 6-2 in the number one position while Smolchenkova dropped a 7-5, 6-2 position in the number two spot. De Backre and Andrade both fell 6-1, 6-0 to their opponents in number three and four singles play, respectively. In the fifth and sixth spots, Cleveland and Humphrey were defeated 6-0, 6-0.
Chowan returns to action on April 7
th when the Hawks host Virginia State University in CIAA play. First serve is slated for 3:00pm.
