Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's soccer team settled for a 1-1 draw against Salem International University on Monday afternoon. The Hawks move to 4-3-2 on the season after Monday's contest while the Tigers post a 5-4-1 mark on the year.

Chowan had nearly secured the victory after holding a 1-0 lead for 89:28 before Marelo Pacheco found the back of the net for Salem International.  Both teams fought through two overtime periods before settling for the 1-1 draw. 

The Hawks struck early in the first period when Christian Funes beat Elliott Cook one-on-one in the box to give Chowan a 1-0 advantage less than five minutes into the contest.  Jason Bradbury was credited with the assist on the play. 

With just 32 seconds left in regulation, Pacheco used Samir Anzil's rebound to knot the score 1-1.  Both teams failed to score over the course of two overtime periods. 

Salem International tallied 27 shots over the course of the contest, led by Pacheco with six shots. Anzil, Jon Campbell, James Cockshott, Jan Deters and Emilio Marti each accounted for three shots for the Tigers.   The Hawks totaled 18 shots over the course of the afternoon led by Bradbury with four shots.  Francisco Ferrus and Funes each added three shots apiece for the Chowan Blue and White. 

Marco Lujan made ten saves in goal for the Chowan Blue and White while Cook and Dom Gillespie combined to make eight saves in the contest. 

The Hawks return to action on October 8^th when they host William Peace University.  Game time is slated for 4:00pm.
