Box Score ELKINS, WV- The Chowan University men's soccer team earned a 2-1 road victory against Davis & Elkins on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks improve to 6-3-2 with the victory while the Senators slide to 3-7-2 after the setback.
After a scoreless first period, Simon Hestad used John Dunbar's assist in the 63
rd minute of play to give Davis & Elkins a 1-0 edge. Two minutes later,
Christian Funes connected with
Barkan Koeprueluegil, who scored to knot the contest 1-1.
After battling through 15 minutes of scoreless play,
Jordan Radisavljevic took matters into his own hands, scoring an unassisted goal to put the Hawks ahead 2-1. Chowan held on to the advantage for the remainder of the contest to secure the victory.
Chowan totaled 12 shots on the afternoon led by
Terell Williamson with four shots.
Tre Bonaparte and Radisavljevic each added two shots in the win with four other Hawks contributing to the total shot count.
Marco Lujan made five saves in goal for the Chowan Blue and White.
The Senators tallied 19 shots on the day led by Oliver Bienias with four and Lukas Grosse-Puppemn, Hestad, and Ross Stewart adding three shots apiece. Daniel Nock made five saves in goal for Davis and Elkins.
The Hawks return to action on October 14
th when Chowan hosts Newberry College. Game time is slated for 3:30pm.
