Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University Hawks improved their CIAA record to 3-0 after going undefeated in cross over play this weekend. The Hawks downed Shaw University in straight sets on Sunday behind 35 team kills.
 
The Hawks won with final set scores of 25-16, 25-13, and 25-14.
 
Newcomer Brittany Tschida and Melanie Chaussee each had nine kills in the win. Allison Smith tallied 28 assists and Cindy Ehrich had nine digs.
 
For Shaw, Ladazia Burris and Deja Simpson had a team-high seven kills each.
 
Chowan improves to 5-3 overall and 3-0 in the league after Sunday's win. Shaw falls to 0-3 overall and in the league.
 
The Hawks host back to back home matches on Thursday and Friday of this week with Elizabeth City State University and Johnson & Wales University respectively.
