MUFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University women's tennis team suffered a 9-0 setback to the visiting Spartans of Norfolk State on Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks slip to 13-7 on the year while the Spartans improve to 5-7.
Norfolk State swept the Hawks in both doubles and singles play.

Holly Stambaugh, 15-6 on the year as a duo, saw a five match doubles win streak come to an end with an 8-4 setback against their opponents.

Jennifer Humphrey/
Jessica De Backre both fell 8-1 in doubles play. Johnson and Andrade move to 10-5 on the year as a doubles pair with the loss.
In singles play, Kamenshchikova, Johnson, Stambaugh, De Backre, Andrade and
Straffai Cleveland were defeated by the Spartans. Prior to Wednesday's match, Kamenshchikova (17-6) and Stambaugh had won three straight singles matches. Johnson saw a five-match win streak in singles play come to an end with the 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 setback.
Chowan returns to action on March 29
th when they host Randolph-Macon at 2:00pm.
