BOWIE, MD – The Chowan University women's tennis team kept their CIAA record perfect at 7-0 after blanking Bowie State University on the road Saturday afternoon. The Hawks swept doubles and singles play for the 9-0 road win. Saturday's win moves Chowan to 13-6 on the season.
Natayla Kamenshchikova and
Holly Stambaugh took an 8-0 win over Amber Peters and Antoinique Johnson in the #1 doubles match.
Natalia Andrade and
Breanne Johnson took the #2 doubles over BSU's Ivadobe Sodipo and Channae Manning.
Jessica De Backre and
Jennifer Humphrey rounded out doubles play with an 8-1 win over BSU's Brianna Burke and Rahwa Habtemariam.
Kamenshchikova took a 6-0, 6-0 win at the #1 singles over Peters and Johnson put up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sodipo in the #2 singles spot.
Stambaugh handed Johnson a straight sets loss at 6-0, 6-0 in the #3 singles spot. De Backre wrapped up with #4 singles position with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Manning while Andrade beat Burke 6-0, 6-1 in the #5 singles position. Straffi Cleveland wrapped up the #6 singles win with a 6-2, 6-1 win over BSU's Allen.
The Hawks will host Norfolk State University in their next outing on March 25
th. Match time is set for 2:00pm at the new CU Tennis Complex.
