MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University women's tennis team improved to 11-6 on the season and 5-0 in CIAA play after an 8-1 CIAA Northern Division win over Virginia State University on Thursday afternoon.  The Lady Trojans move to 5-2 overall and 3-2 in the league after the loss. 
 
The Hawks rolled past the Lady Trojans in doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead heading into singles competition. Natalya Kamenshchikova/Holly Stambaugh topped Brittany Uzzell/Zaire Simmons 8-5 while Breanne Johnson/Natalia Andrade and Jennifer Humphrey/Jessica De Backre earned 8-0 wins over their opponents. 
 
Kamenshchikova, Johnson, Stambaugh, Andrade and Straffai Cleveland earned victories in singles play to secure the 8-1 win for the Hawks. 
 
Chowan will take on Johnson C. Smith in Raleigh, NC on March 21^st before traveling to Bowie State on March 22^nd.
