MURFREESBORO, NC- The Chowan University women's tennis team fell to the visiting Lancers of Longwood University 8-1 on Sunday afternoon.  The Hawks slip to 4-4 on the season while the Lancers improve to 1-2.  
 
Longwood swept the Hawks in doubles play as Natalya Kamenshchikova/Holly Stambaugh, Natalia Andrade/Breanne Johnson and Jessica De Backre/Jennifer Humphrey each fell to their opponents. 
 
Chowan battled to keep the scores close in singles competition.  Kamenschikova earned the lone win for the Hawks in singles play with a 6-3,6-2 win over Malin Allqurin.  Johnson, Stambaugh, De Backre, Andrade and Straffai Cleveland all suffered setbacks against their opponents, handing the Lancers the 8-1 victory. 
 
The Hawks return to action on February 27^th when they host Elizabeth City State in a CIAA Northern Division contest.  First serve is slated for 3:00pm.
