Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's soccer team's season came to an end on Thursday afternoon with a 4-1 loss to Palm Beach Atlantic University in the NCCAA South Region Semi-Final.
The Hawks end their season with a 12-8 record while the Sailfish advance to the NCCAA South Region Championship with a 9-6-3 record overall. Palm Beach Atlantic University will take on Southern Wesleyan University on Saturday at 1:00pm on Hawks Field.
Lucas DaSilva notched a goal for the Sailfish in the first ten minutes of the contest using Jermaine Metza's assist. Six minutes later,
Jordan Radisavljevic headed the ball into the near post using
Christian Funes' corner kick. With the score tied 1-1, a score by Steven Fiema at the 22:50 mark gave Palm Beach Atlantic the go-ahead. Lucas Coutinho was credited with the assist.
In the 46
th minute, a Hawk foul resulted in a penalty kick opportunity for Palm Beach Atlantic. Daniel Pena took advantage and scored a goal for the Sailfish, leaving the Hawks trailing 3-1.
Ten minutes later, Coutinho connected with Fiema again to secure the 4-1 victory for the Sailfish.
Marco Lujan made five saves in goal for the Blue and White while Steeven Raymount made four saves for Palm Beach Atlantic. The Sailfish outshot the Hawks 21-9 over the course of the afternoon.
Chowan's 12 wins on the season marks the most successful record for the Blue and White as a member of NCAA Division II. The Hawks tied the school record for wins this year (12), which was set in 1996.
