Box Score MURFREESBORO- The Chowan University men's soccer team fell to UNC Pembroke in a tight 1-0 decision on Saturday afternoon. The Hawks move to 11-7 on the season with the setback while the Braves improve to 6-7-3 on the year.
The Braves got on the board in the 16
th minute of play when Clayton Gannaway found the back of the net using Ricky Chavez's free kick. The Hawks held UNC Pembroke at bay for the remainder of the first half, but headed into halftime trailing 1-0.
Chowan was unable to score in the second half. They mustered nine total shots in the contest in comparison to 22 by UNC Pembroke.
Marco Lujan made eight saves in goal for the Blue and White while Kenneth Perkinson notched two saves for the Braves.
Barkan Koeprueluegil and
Terell Williamson each had three shots in the loss.
Saturday was Senior Day at Hawks Field. Chowan recognized a trio of seniors:
