VSU Drops CU Women's Tennis 7-2 for second CIAA Loss of Season

PETERSBURG, VA - The Chowan University women's tennis team suffered a 7-2 CIAA North Division loss on Thursday afternoon, giving the Hawks just their second conference loss of the season. The Hawks picked up one win on both the singles and doubles side, led by Natalya Kamenshchikova

Kamenshchikova rolled to a 6-2, 6-0 win over VSU's Amanda Spencer and then teamed up with Breanne Johnson for an easy 8-2 win at the number one doubles match. 

Johnson suffered a tough three set loss 7-5, 2-6, 10-6 to VSU's Zaire Simmons in the number two singles match. Jennifer Humphrey also dropped a tough 7-6 (10) and 7-5 sixth seeded match to VSU's Kayla Kale. 

The Lady Trojans took five out six singles matches and two out of three doubles matches to roll past the visiting Hawks 7-2. The Hawks move to 13-12 on the year and 10-2 in the CIAA.

Chowan will travel to Virginia Union University on Monday, April 1st in their next outing.
