MURFREESBORO – Despite scoring the first goal of the game, the Chowan University Men's Soccer team fell to UNC-Pembroke on Saturday, 10-1. Chowan is now 0-3 on the season, while UNC-Pembroke remains unbeaten at 4-0.
Biez Neto put the Hawks on the board in the third minute with a goal from only three yards out, but the Braves quickly responded with two goals in the next minute and a half to take a 2-1 lead, which they would not relinquish.
The Braves would score three more goals in the first period to take a 5-1 lead at intermission. The second period was much like the first, as the Braves scored five goals to earn the 10-1 victory.
Kenny Moore and
Brandon Chambers each had an assist on Neto's goal. Moore recorded a team high three shots. Martin Tomter led the Braves with three goals on eight shots.
The Hawks return to action next Friday, September 16th, when they host Salem International University at 2:00pm.
