MURFREESBORO – The Chowan Women's Soccer team held a 1-0 lead at the half, but could not hold on against the visiting Lady Lions of Lincoln University (PA), and fell 3-1. The Hawks move to 1-7 on the season, while Lincoln earned their first victory of the season and now own a 1-8-1 record.
Chowan got off to a hot start, as
Alaina Beasley nailed a free kick from 30 yards out to put the Hawks up 1-0 in the fifth minute of play. Beasley would finish the game with two shots.
The Hawks defense remained strong through the first period and did not allow Lincoln to get on the board. The Lady Lions managed to score, though, in the second period.
Courtney Moss fired in a goal off a corner kick in the 63
rd minute to tie the score at one. Tara O'Brien then recorded back-to-back goals in the 76
th and 90
th minutes to secure the 3-1 victory for Lincoln.
Erica Jefferson tallied a team-high five shots for Chowan.
Canesha Bradford joined Beasley with two shots. O'Brien led Lincoln with 11 shots for the game.
Chowan will travel to Barton College on Thursday, October 13
th for their next game. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm.
