MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University men's soccer team dropped their ninth match of the year after battling to a 2-1 overtime loss at home to Bluefield College Saturday afternoon.  The Hawks played scoreless until the 86th minute when Josh Gross beat BC's keeper near post to knot the match at 1-1 and force the overtime period. BC's Steve Guerrier punched a ball past Chowan's keeper at the 3:42 mark of overtime to give his team the 2-1 win. Chowan collected 15 shots in the match and held the Rams to 14 shots over the match.

BC's Pedro Fazilio got Bluefield on the board first when he headed a pass from Dan Turpin to the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. Chowan remained scoreless until Gross' goal in the 86th minute. Kenny Moore sent a ball into the box where Isidro Lopez passed it quickly near post to Gross who punched it in for the tie.

Guerrier's game winner at the 3:42 was all the Rams needed to pick up their 6th win of the year. Chowan falls to 0-9 after today's loss while the Rams move to even at 6-6-1 on the year.

Ethan Phelps recorded four stops and allowed two scores in goal for Chowan.
