MURFREESBORO – Brandon Chambers scored his second goal of the season, but Southern Virginia University came away with a 3-1 victory over the Hawks on Saturday.  Chowan moves to 1-11 on the season, while SVU improves to 8-5-2.
 
Both defenses were strong throughout the game, as the teams combined for just 11 shots on goal.  Kyle Tyree found the back of the net in the 16^th minute to give SVU a 1-0 lead.  That was the only scoring of the first half of play.
 
The Knights opened the second period strong, scoring in the 46^th minute to go up 2-0.  They would score again in the 61^st minute, but Chambers punched in a goal off a rebounded shot to bring the Hawks back within two.
 
Despite out-shooting SVU in the second period 8-4, Chowan could not put any more goals on the board.  Chambers has a team-high three shots, while Ethan Phelps made three saves.
 
The Hawks return to action Tuesday, October 18^th when they host Mount Olive College at 4:00pm.
