ELIZABETH CITY, NC - Chowan University's volleyball team fell in a five set battle against Elizabeth City State University this afternoon. Heading into today's match both teams were undefeated, but it was the Lady Vikings who battled back from a 2-1 deficit and won the final two sets to hold on to their flawless conference record. Chowan falls to 7-5 overall and 7-1 (1-1) in the league while ECSU improves to 10-2 on the year and 9-0 (3-0) in league play. 

Chowan took the first set 25-17 while the Lady Vikings took a narrow 25-21 second set win. The Hawks rebounded to take the third set 25-23 but dropped the final and deciding sets 25-18 and 15-10. 

For the second consecutive match, the Hawks had three players get double digit kills. Victoria Lewis had a match high 21 kills. She also had 14 digs and three aces. Antoinette McCollough had 14 kills in the win while Karina Monroe had 11 kills and four service aces. Charla Hughes had 34 assists in the match. 

The Hawks will take off until Friday when they host Virginia State University in a 6:00pm match. They turn around to host Lincoln and North Greenville in a tri match on Saturday. The tri match starts at 11:00am.
