Box Score MURFREESBORO - Bowie State University used 42 second half points to down Chowan University 59-19 in the Hawks final home gome of the 2010 season. The Bulldogs rolled up 582 yards including 268 yards of rushing yardage. The Hawks battled in the first half but the Bulldogs were too much to handle in the second half as they spoiled Senior Day at Garrison Stadium. The CU football program honored seniors

Gavin McMorris. Chowan and Bowie State's seasons came to an end today as Virginia State's win over Saint Pauls secured a Northern Division Championship for the Trojans.
Bowie State scored on their opening possession after Rodney Webb capped off a 63 yard drive with a 16 yard touchdown scamper. Michael Gagne split the uprights for an early 7-0 lead for the Bulldogs. Chowan answered with 2:29 to play in the first quarter after
Ryan Simpson hit
Elliot Smalls for a 17 yard touchdown connection.
Matt Lucas missed the extra point, giving the Bulldogs a one point edge. Gagne scored a 26 yard field goal and Clifton Budd connected with Derrick McPhearson for a 57 yard score to take a 17-6 lead in to halftime.
The Hawks opened the second half with a one yard touchdown run by Smalls but would be held out of the endzone until late in the fourth quarter. In the meantime, the BSU offense went to work posting 42 second half points. Eddie Coard caught an eight yard pass from Simpson with 2:32 to play in the game but the damage was too much to overcome for the Hawks.
Simpson ended the day with 240 yards passing on 22 of 38 passes. He threw for two touchdowns in the game.
Robert Holland caught eight passes for 73 yards and Coard had 81 yards on six catches with a touchdown. Smalls ended the day with 61 yards on the ground on 21 attempts.
Defensively
Jason Ampy put up a team-high eight tackles with three tackles for a loss. Gatin Williams came in with six tackles behind Ampy.
For BSU, Webb rushed for a game high 103 yards on 20 carries while Budd threw for 294 yards with four touchdowns. McPhearson caught five passes for 107 yards. Terrence Peete had eight tackles to lead the defensive unit.
The Hawks close out the season at 3-7 overall and 3-4 in the CIAA while BSU improves to 6-4 overall and 6-1 in the CIAA.
