MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University volleyball team improved to 13-8 overall and 11-1 in CIAA play after beating Bowie State University in straight sets this morning. The Hawks and the Lady Bulldogs played in the first of three matches at the Helms Center today. BSU is scheduled to play UNC-Pembroke at 1:00pm. The Lady Bulldogs move to 4-17 and 2-12 in the CIAA after getting the loss today.

Chowan out hit Bowie State 35 to 10 in the match with Victoria Lewis getting a match-high 10 kills. Taylor Jones also had 10 kills for Chowan. Callie Armistead  set up 28 assists in the match. She also had four service aces. The Hawks had 23 service aces as a team today. 

For Bowie State Jasmine Nixon and Briana Flowers each had three kills and TIffany White had eight assists. 

Chowan is set to play UNC-Pembroke at 3:00pm to round out today's tri-match play.
