MURFREESBORO - The Chowan University volleyball team improved to 13-8 overall and 11-1 in the CIAA after beating Virginia Union University in straight sets this evening. The Hawks compiled 34 kills in the match and held the Lady Panthers to 20 team kills. Chowan's Victoria Lewis led the way for the Hawks with 11 kills. 

Chowan won with set scores of 25-12, 25-6, and 25-19. Karina Monroe added eight kills and two blocks and Callie Armistead totaled 27 assists. 

The Hawks improve to 13-8 on the year and 10-1 in the CIAA. The Lady Panthers fall to 6-13 on the year and 5-7 in CIAA play. 

Chowan will host Bowie State University and UNC-Pembroke in a trimatch on Saturday. Match times are 11:00am, 1:00pm, and 3:00pm.
