RICHMOND, VA - After dropping the first set of tonight's final regular season match at Virginia Union, Chowan University's volleyball team used a strong offensive attack to take the next three sets for a 3-1 win. The Hawks got double digit kills from four players and totaled 57 team kills in the win. The Hawks completed their regular season tonight, finishing up at 18-11 overall, 16-2 in the CIAA, and 10-2 in the CIAA Northern Division. The Hawks finished the regular season up in second place in the Northern Division behind Elizabeth City State University. The Lady Vikings dealt the Hawks their only conference losses this season.
Karina Monroe paced Chowan with 13 kills while teammates
Victoria Lewis and
Taylor Jones each added 12 kills. Lewis also had 16 digs and three aces.
Monica Ruffin added 10 kills and
Callie Armistead set up 41 assists.
The Hawks will hit the court again at the CIAA Volleyball Championships in Hampton, Virginia November 5-7th. Seedings will be released early next week. Check
