ETTRICK, VA - The Chowan University volleyball team improved to 17-11 on the year after rolling to a straight sets win over Virginia State University tonight. The Hawks won with final set scores of 25-7, 25-8, and 25-17 in the CIAA Northern Division match up. Earlier this week Elizabeth City State University solidified the Northern Division regular season title, giving Chowan the second place spot with one regular season match left to play on the schedule. Chowan's two divisional losses this season came at the hands of the Lady Vikings.
Karina Monroe led the way for Chowan with 11 kills while
Callie Armistead had 30 assists.
Tara Thomalla had 12 digs and
Megan Sawyer served four aces.
The Hawks will travel to Virginia Union on Thursday to wrap up the regular season. The CIAA Volleyball Championships will be in Hampton, Virginia on November 5th-7th at the Boo Williams Sportsplex. For more information on the tournament, log onto
