Box Score MURFREESBORO - The men's basketball team picked up their fourth CIAA win tonight after beating Saint Pauls College 72-70. The Hawks put four players in double figures in the win while clutch play by the Hawks late in the game helped lift them to the narrow two point victory. Chowan improves to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in CIAA play.
Mark Brown hit two free throws with 1:01 to play and the game knotted at 68-68 that helped give his team a two point cushion before
Lando Morrison iced the game with a dunk with :12 on the clock. Brown ended the game with 17 points while Morrison had 14 points and seven rebounds.
Jaleel Nelson led the way for Chowan with 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
Nate Walchuk scored 14 points and 4-5 from beyond the three point arch in the win.
Chowan shot 55% from the floor (26-47) and scored 36 of their points in the paint. For Saint Pauls, George Leseur hit a game-high 23 points on a 9-14 shooting performance.
Chowan improves their record to 5-4 overall and 4-2 in league play while the Tigers fall to 1-6 overall and 0-5 in the CIAA. The Hawks will host Elizabeth City State University on Monday in their next outing. Tip off is set for 7:30pm at the Helms Center. Saint Pauls will travel to Fayetteville State University for a 4:30pm tip on Monday in their next outing.
