MURFREESBORO - Two late scores by Washington Adventist University lifted them over Chowan with a final score of 6-4 this afternoon. The game fip-flopped scores for nearly 90 minutes before WAU's Se-Eun Park scored back-to-back goals in the final four minutes of the match to propel the Shock to victory over the homestanding Hawks.
WAU's Kouame Kreme got his team on the board first in the match when he scored on a penalty kick at the 3:06 mark of the first period. Chowan answered ten minutes later when
Ali Abdi found an open
Chinedu Iuwora who stuck the ball past WAU's keeper. Gilbert Ngen split Chowan defenders at the 31:55 mark of the first period to get up 2-1 over the Hawks.
Ross Danzeisen headed a ball past WAU's keeper to knot the game at 2-2 with under nine minutes to play in the half.
Park busted the game tie at 3-2 in the 50th minute of the match before Abdi tied it back for Chowan with a penalty kick. Trailing 4-3 with 20 minutes to play, Chowan's
Adam Smith flicked a ball over WAU's keeper to give the match it's 4th tie at 4-4.
Park's goals in the final five minutes of the match solidified the win for Washington Adventist and gave Chowan it's 8th loss of the season.
Josh Cenci started in goal, getting seven stops and giving up six goals. Chowan had 16 shots in the match with 12 of those coming on goal. WAU's tallied 32 shots in the match.
The Hawks will travel to Methodist College on Sunday in their next outing. That match will be played at 4:00pm.
