ETTRICK, VA - The volleyball team improved their overall record to 15-5and their CIAA record to 11-1 after beating Virginia Union and Virginia State today in a CIAA tri-match. Chowan rolled to a straight sets win over Virginia Union and beat Virginia State 3-1. 

The Hawks matched up against Virginia Union in their first match of the day. They won with final set scores of 25-5, 25-8, and 25-3. Chowan out hit the Panthers 26 to four in the match. Karina Monroe paced Chowan with eight kills. Antoinette McCollough had five aces and five kills in the win. Callie Armistead tallied 19 assists in the match. 

Chowan lost their first set of the opening match with Virginia State University 25-13 but bounced back with set wins of 25-10, 25-12, and 25-12. Victoria Lewis had 11 kills in the win followed by Monroe with nine kills. Armistead had 29 assists and Desaray Turner had seven kills and 11 digs.
