Karina Monroe collected 15 kills en route to a straight sets victory over CIAA opponent Johnson C. Smith University this evening in volleyball action. Monroe was one of three Chowan players to collect double-digit kills in the match. As a team the Hawks hit at a .514 clip with 43 total kills to the Lady Golden Bulls 14 total kills.
Chowan won with final set scores of 25-10, 25-14, and 25-12. The Hawks improve their CIAA record to 9-1 overall and 3-1 in Western Division play. The Lady Golden Bulls fall to 2-7 in CIAA play and 3-14 on the year. Chowan improves their overall win-loss record to 13-5.
Karina Monroe hit 15 kills in 20 attempts on the night while teammate
Victoria Lewis had 13 kills to go with six digs and three service aces.
Antoinette McCollough had 12 kills in 16 attempts (.750) while
Callie Armistead set up 37 assists to go with three service aces and four digs.
For Johnson C. Smith Rashondae Henderson had a team-high seven kills. Mauranda Elliot had four kills and four digs in the match.
Chowan will travel to Richmond for a cross-divisional tri-match this Saturday with Virginia Union and Virginia State Universities.
