WASHINGTON, DC - The men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 match at the University of the District of Columbia to wrap up their 2009 regular season competition. The Firebirds scored two goals in the final eight minutes of the match to take the game 3-1.
The Firebirds struck first in the match but Chowan's
Ali Abdi knotted the match at 1-1 with an unassisted goal in the 27th minute. The two teams battled defensively until UDC punched in two late goals for the 3-1 win.
UDC out shot Chowan 17-10 in the match while
Josh Cenci had three saves in goal for the Hawks. Chowan wrapped up the regular season 1-15 on the season. They will travel to the NCCAA South Region Tournament on November 20-21st. The tournament is being held at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Georgia. More information will follow as it is available on the NCCAA South Region Tournament.
