MURFREESBORO - The volleyball team added to their win column today after beating Shaw University in straight sets in game one of today's tri match. The tri-match features the Hawks, Shaw University, and the University of the District of Columbia. Chowan won the first match with final set scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-13. 

The Hawks out hit the Lady Bears 38 to 14 in the match with Antoinette McCollough getting a match-high 13 kills for Chowan. Both Victoria Lewis and Karina Monroe had eight kills. Callie Armistead had 28 assists and Charla Hughes had six service aces. 

For Shaw, Nikita Grant has five kills while NIa Bailey had 13 asissts. 

The Hawks improve to 17-5 on the year, 13-1 in CIAA play, and 5-1 in divisional play. The Lady Bears move to 8-6 overall, 6-5 in the CIAA, and 2-4 in league play. 

Chowan will play the University of the District of Columbia at 3:00pm.
