MURFREESBORO - The volleyball team moved one step closer to claiming the CIAA Western Division Title with a 3-1 win over Fayetteville State University tonight. The Hawks need a win over Saint Augustine's College on Saturday to clinch the top seed in the CIAA Western Division. The Hawks won tonight with final set scores of 25-23, 25-19, 21-25, and 25-14.
Chowan (22-8, 13-1) out hit the Lady Broncos 43 to 32 in the match with three Hawks getting double digit kills.
Antoinette McCollough totaled a match-high 13 kills in the match while
Victoria Lewis and
Karina Monroe tallied 11 kills. Lewis tallied 10 digs and had three blocks to go with her 11 kills.
Callie Armistead set up 36 assists in the win.
For FSU Chekimbrell Jefferson had a team-high 10 kills and Achari Mainor had 29 assists.
The Hawks will host their final regular season match at home on Saturday against Saint Augutine's College. That match is slated to start at 4:00pm.
The CIAA Tournament will begin November 5th in Hampton.
