Good Gone Bad

MURFREESBORO - The Braves played host to Hampden-Sydney College in soccer action on the campus of Chowan College. The Braves struck first in this match behind the foot of freshman Michael Bailey (assisted by Richard Tacaraya) in the twenty-third minute. It looked as if the Braves could hold the lead into half time until Rob Comegys booted a goal to tie the score 1-1. HSU struck again in the twenty-third minute to take the lead 2-1.Several incidents led to an altercation, leaving three players with red cards and ejection from the event. Two players from Chowan and one player from Hampden-Sydney will sit for two games because of the red cards. The red card set up a penalty kick situation for HSU, in which they capitalized, making the score now 3-1 with 5 minutes to play in the first period. Four minutes later HSU was fouled inside the box, allowing for another penalty kick situation. Comegys again found the back of the net making the score now 4-1 at the half. Two men down, Chowan fought in the second half to keep ball control but lost with a final score of 10-1. HSU scored twice in penalty kick situations in the second period. The Braves host Lynchburg College at home, Wednesday September 5th at 4:00pm.
