MURFREESBORO - In opening round action tonight host team Chowan (3-5) College lost to Lycoming College (7-1) with a final score of 87-79. The Braves got off to a slow start hitting 15-37 shots in the first half and trailing by 10 at the half. The Braves fell back as far as 15 points in the second half but made a run with just over 6 minutes to play in the game. With 1:54 seconds remaining,
Bryan Christian scored a lay-up to go up 79-78. Two key turnovers forced the Braves to foul in the last minute of play which led to their defeat. Senior
Bryan Christian had 20 points and 7 boards in the loss while
Dejuan Green had 19 points.
Roland Brown added 13 points and 4 assists while point guard
Anthony Jones had 11 points on the night. The Braves will face off against Wesley College tomorrow in the consolation game at 1:00pm.
Wesley versus Virginia Wesleyan-Game Two
Virginia Wesleyan paved the way into the final game by beating Wesley College 82-59 in second game action. The Marlins jumped out to a big league in the first half and kept it for the remainder of the game. The Marlins shot 46% from the floor and 38% from beyond the three-point arch. Fisher had 21 points while Wallace and Doino both scored 13 points on the night. The Championship game will be played at 3:00pm tomorrow afternoon.
