LANCASTER, S.C.- The Chowan University men's golf team opened play at the 2026 Wolves Fall Intercollegiate, hosted by Newberry College, on Monday at Edgewater Golf Club.
The Hawks put together a solid opening day through the first two rounds, led by Gabriel Ansley. Ansley carded back-to-back rounds under par, shooting a 1-under 71 in the opening round before turning in a 5-under 67 in round two. His two-round score of 138 (-6) placed him in a tie for first on the individual leaderboard heading into the final round.
Joining Ansley in Chowan's team lineup were Jacob Kearney, Tanner Casey, Bjoern Holt and Chance Lassiter. Rueben Gamez-Aranda and Harry Jones represented the Hawks as individuals.
As a team, Chowan opened the tournament with a 299 in round one before carding a 300 in the second round to finish the day in fifth place.

INSIDE THE CARDSÂ
Ansley opened the tournament with four birdies in round one, overcoming three bogeys on the front nine before playing even-par golf on the back nine to finish with a 1-under 71. He elevated his play in round two, recording seven birdies while going over par on just one hole to card a 5-under 67. Ansley finished the day at 6-under overall and tied for first on the individual leaderboard.
Kearney carded a 75 in the opening round behind two birdies. He added another birdie on the back nine in round two on his way to a 79, placing him 32nd overall after two rounds.
Lassiter opened with a 79, recording one birdie during the first nine holes. He found his rhythm in round two, firing a 1-under 34 on the front nine and recording four birdies overall to finish with a 1-over 73. Lassiter enters the final round tied for 26th.
Casey recorded three birdies in the opening round to card a 76. The freshman followed with two birdies and an eagle on the par-5 13th hole in round two, finishing with an 81. Casey sits tied for 36th heading into the final round.
Holt recorded three birdies in his opening round, including two on the front nine, to finish with a 77. He added another birdie in round two while carding an 83 and enters the final round tied for 40th.
Competing individually, Aranda opened with a 75 after recording two birdies, one on each side of the course. He added another birdie on the back nine in round two to finish with a 78 and sits tied for 29th overall.
Jones rounded out Chowan's individual competitors with a 78 in the opening round, recording four birdies with two on each nine. He added three more birdies in round two while carding a 79 and enters the final round tied for 36th alongside Casey.
UP NEXT
The Hawks return to Edgewater Golf Club on Tuesday morning for the third and final round of the 2026 Wolves Fall Intercollegiate. Chowan will look to build on its opening two rounds and move up the team leaderboard to close out the tournament.
