MCCORMICK, S.C.- The Chowan University men's golf team closed out their first tournament of the 2026 fall season at the Savannah Lakes Invitational, hosted by Lander University, on Tuesday at Monticello Golf Course.
The Hawks saved their best round for last, firing a 283 in the final round after carding rounds of 307 and 299 on Monday. Chowan shaved 16 strokes off their second-round score to finish the tournament in 17th place. Chance Lassiter and Gabriel Ansley both finished the final round under par, while Bjoern Holt carded an even-par 72.

INSIDE THE CARDSÂ
Bjoern Holt led the Hawks on the individual leaderboard, closing the tournament with an even-par 72. Holt recorded four birdies in the final round, with two on the front nine and two on the back nine, to move up 10 spots and finish tied for 40th.
Chance Lassiter posted Chowan's lowest round of the tournament, firing a four-under 68 on Tuesday. Lassiter carded a 33 on the front nine behind four birdies before adding two more birdies on the back nine for a 35. His final-round performance moved him up 28 spots on the leaderboard to finish tied for 62nd.
Gabriel Ansley joined Lassiter in a tie for 62nd after carding a two-under 70 in the final round. Ansley shot a 35 on both the front and back nine while recording two birdies on the day. The final-round performance moved him up 20 spots on the individual leaderboard.
Jacob Kearney finished one-over par with a 73 in the final round, recording three birdies on his way to moving up seven spots on the leaderboard. Kearney closed out the tournament tied for 92nd.
Harry Jones rounded out the Chowan lineup with a final-round 78. Jones recorded a birdie on the back nine and finished the tournament in 105th place overall.
UP NEXT
Chowan's B and C teams will travel to Rocky Mount, N.C., on September 21-22 for the Don Scalf Memorial Tournament, hosted by North Carolina Wesleyan at Belmont Lake Golf Club. The A team returns to action September 28-29 at the Newberry Wolves Fall Invitational, hosted by Newberry College at Edgewater Golf Club in Lancaster, S.C.Â
