MCCORMICK, S.C.- The Chowan University men's golf team opened its 2026 fall season at the Savannah Lakes Invitational, hosted by Lander University, on Monday at Monticello Golf Course.
The two-day tournament features an 18-team field, with the Hawks completing the opening two rounds on Monday. Chowan improved by eight strokes between rounds, carding a 307 in the morning before firing a 299 in the afternoon to finish the opening day in 17th place. Senior Bjoern Holt led the Hawks through the first 36 holes and sits tied for 55th individually.

INSIDE THE CARDSÂ
USC Aiken leads the 18-team field at 30-under par heading into Tuesday's final round.
Holt led the Chowan lineup through the opening 36 holes, recording four birdies in the first round before adding three more on the front nine during the second round.
Gabriel Ansley finished the opening day tied for 80th after improving between rounds. Ansley opened with a 77 that included four birdies before shaving three strokes off his score in the afternoon with a 74.
Chance Lassiter sits tied for 90th after carding a 76 in the opening round with three birdies. Lassiter followed with a 77 in the second round, adding another birdie on the back nine.
Jacob Kearney improved by five strokes between rounds to finish the day tied for 100th. Kearney followed an opening-round 81 with a 76 in the afternoon while recording five birdies across the two rounds.
Harry Jones rounded out the Chowan lineup in 106th place. Jones recorded two birdies in the opening round before adding three more during the second round to finish the opening day with five total birdies.
