MURFREESBORO, N.C. –The Chowan University volleyball team opened Conference Carolinas play in commanding fashion Wednesday evening, sweeping Barton College 3-0 at Bob Burke Court. The victory marked the Hawks' first home win of the season, first conference win of the year, and first victory over Barton since 2022.
Chowan controlled the match from the start, taking the opening set 25-19 before extending its lead with a 25-16 win in the second. The Hawks closed out the match in the third set, holding off the Bulldogs 25-23 to secure the sweep.

Freshman Alexa Fricker led the Hawks offensively with eight kills while adding nine digs and two block assists. Madison Henderson and Rosa Lynn Collier each finished with seven kills. Henderson added three blocks and two digs, while Collier recorded four digs and a block assist.
Alauna Wilson-Linn contributed five kills, five digs, four service aces, and an assist in the win. Andrea Krgovic paced the offense with 27 assists while adding six digs and two kills. Anna Holcombe anchored the defensive effort with a team-high 15 digs.
The victory marked Chowan's first win over Barton since 2022 and gives the Hawks a 1-0 start to Conference Carolinas play.

Chowan will hit the road to continue Conference Carolinas play, traveling to Lees-McRae College on Friday, September 11. The match is set for 6:00 PM. The Hawks will then continue their road trip to Bristol, Tenn., to take on King University on Saturday, September 12 at 12:00 PM.
