TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Chowan University baseball team opened its three-game series against North Greenville University on Friday afternoon. The Hawks recorded six hits in the contest, including doubles from Peyton Clay and Jordan Turner, but fell in game one to the Trailblazers.

Ahmaad Goldson recorded Chowan's first hit of the game with a single to left center in the top of the third inning. In the fourth, Josh Tripp reached base on a wild pitch and advanced to second on a stolen base.
The Hawks continued to look for opportunities with Peyton Clay doubled to right center in the fifth inning before Collin Gifford followed with a single to left to move Clay to third. Derrick Davis added a double to right center in the sixth inning, while KJ Durand Jr. singled through the middle in the eighth. Nick Reiss rounded out the hitting with a single to left field, advancing Jordan Turner to second.
Matthew Lovitt earned the start on the mound, pitching 4.0 innings. Cody Ives provided strong relief, tossing the final 4.0 innings while allowing just one hit and one run, and striking out two batters.

The Hawks will continue the series with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 18. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 PM, with game two set for 3:00 PM.
