Chowan Golf Concludes Day One Play at the Lander Invite in Greenwood

GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Chowan University golf team opened play at the Greenville Men's Invitational, hosted by Lander University, on Monday morning. The Hawks competed in two rounds on the opening day, with Mika Buchholtz and Gabriel Ansley recording the team's lowest rounds of the day. Buchholtz highlighted the round by carding a hole-in-one during the first round.

INSIDE THE CARDS 
The Hawks posted steady rounds throughout day one of the tournament, highlighted by a 195-yard hole-in-one by Buchholtz on a par-3 during the opening round—marking the first ace of his collegiate career. Buchholtz finished the first round with a 76 (+4) before carrying that momentum into round two, where he fired a 71 (-1) to finish the day with a 147 (+3) total.

Ansley led the way for Chowan, carding a 72 (E) in round one before following it up with a 71 (-1) in the second round to finish with a 143 (-1) overall. Buchholtz improved significantly in the second round, shooting a 76 (+4) in the opening round before firing a 71 (-1) to finish with a 147 (+3) total. 

Adam Lankford recorded rounds of 76 (+4) and 72 (E) to finish with a 148 (+4) across the two rounds. Chance Lassiter posted a 77 (+5) in round one and followed with a 76 (+4) in round two to finish with a 153 (+9).Bryce Koehler opened with a 73 (+1) before turning in a 79 (+7) in the second round to finish at 152 (+8) overall.

The Hawks carded a 297 in the opening round before improving by seven strokes in round two to post a 290, finishing with a two-round total of 587

The Hawks return to the course for the final round on Tuesday, March 10, where they will play another 18 holes to conclude the Greenwood Men's Invitational in Greenwood, South Carolina.
